Chevron Launching Layoffs in April
Chevron Corp. will be launching a round of layoffs beginning April 6 as it sells its Appalachian natural gas operations, according to a WARN notice the company sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry earlier this month. According to the notice the potential number of people affected totals 288 employees at its regional headquarters at 700 Cherrington Parkway in Moon Township, PA.

Crew Kidnapped from Oil Tanker
Reporting indicated that the Alpine Penelope crude oil tanker had been attacked while in transit towards Lagos, resulting in the kidnap of nine personnel, Dryad Global revealed on its website. The identities of the kidnapped crew remain unknown, although Dryad highlighted that the vessel is known to have a crew of 24 personnel, consisting of Georgians, Filipino and Ukrainian nationals.

Aramco Signs Deals Worth Over $21B
Saudi Aramco signed 66 Memoranda of Understanding and strategic and commercial collaborations worth more than $21 billion. Aramco noted that the deals were made with international partner companies and entities from 11 countries in several industrial and business segments across the Saudi Arabian energy sector.

Buyer Cancels LNG Cargoes From Cheniere
Bloomberg reported that Spanish utility owner Naturgy Energy Group SA had canceled two LNG cargoes from Cheniere Energy Inc. Bloomberg said the cargoes were rejected by Naturgy’s clients Repsol SA and Endesa SA.

Shell Plans Major Drilling in Mexico
Bloomberg also reported that Royal Dutch Shell plc is pushing ahead on its massive deep-water drilling plan in Mexico. lberto de La Fuente, Shell’s Mexico country chief, said the company plans to drill four wells this year, and a similar amount next year, according to Bloomberg.
