Bowleven plc confirmed Wednesday that TechnipFMC plc has won the lead front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for the proposed development of the Etinde gas condensate field offshore Cameroon.
The shallow-water Etinde Permit encompasses 461 square kilometers within the Rio Del Rey Basin, Bowleven states on its website. The company owns a 25-percent interest in the joint venture (JV) developing the acreage. NewAge (African Global Energy) Ltd. operates and holds a 37.5-percent stake in the permit, with Lukoil owning the remaining 37.5 percent.
“The award of a lead FEED contractor is a significant milestone for the JV partners, as we look to make a final investment decision on Etinde in 2020,” Bowleven CEO Eli Chahin commented in a written statement emailed to Rigzone.
According to Bowleven, the JV partners have proposed an initial development concept that would link an onshore gas processing, storage and export facility to an unmanned wellhead platform with associated pipeline infrastructure. The FEED contract calls on TechnipFMC to work alongside and report to the integrated JV partner operations team to lead the onshore and offshore elements of the proposed development program, Bowleven added. The JV partner also stated that operator NewAge will carry out the reservoir engineering and subsurface development aspects of the wider FEED process.
“We are excited about our plans for the initial phase of the proposed development and look forward to working with Technip to finalize our development concept for the field over the coming months,” stated Chahin.
NewAge states on its website that, pending a favorable final investment decision, first production from Etinde could occur in 2022.
