Constellation Oil Services reported last week that it has signed a three-year contract with Petrobras for the Atlantic Star semi-submersible rig.
Calling the award a milestone, Rio de Janeiro-based Constellation noted the award brings the company’s offshore fleet back to 100-percent utilization. According to Constellation’s website, the company’s offshore fleet includes two semisubs, three dynamic positioning rigs and three drillships.
Constructed in 1976 and upgraded in 2011, the Atlantic Star midwater semisub can operate in water depths up to 2,000 feet, Constellation states on its website. The company also notes the rig can drill to 21,320 feet. The semisub can accommodate up to 110 people, according to Constellation’s spec sheet for Atlantic Star.
